Dr Deepak Subramanian is the lead asthma clinician and co-lead of the ImpACT+ service at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton (UHDB). He completed his MB ChB (Hons) at the University of Leeds during which time he also obtained a BSc (Hons) in Molecular Medicine. He undertook his specialist training in the West Midlands and was awarded an MD in 2012 for this work on imaging in COPD.
He set-up the integrated asthma project (ImpACT) which subsequently transformed into the commissioned respiratory integrated service (ImpACT+) in South Derbyshire and Erewash. This service was awarded the HSJ value award 2020 - Respiratory Care Initiative of the Year. In response to the Covid19 pandemic the service developed a Covid virtual ward providing short-term oxygen to patients recovering from Covid19 and supporting over 100 patients with their recovery at home.
