Irene Valero-Sánchez is a consultant respiratory physician working across University Hospitals of Leicester and Leicestershire Partnership Trust. She is the clinical lead for respiratory integrated care in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland and has led the development of COPD virtual clinics, an integrated COPD MDT and most recently has medically led a telehealth-enabled virtual ward, treating over 200 patients recovering from covid-19 including a home oxygen weaning service. This service has been selected by NHSX as a case study of innovation collaborative.
She hosts an integrated care blog in the BTS Respiratory Futures website, is a member of the PCRS service development committee and has a subspecialist interest in sleep disorders and home ventilation.
Outside work she is an amateur photographer and illustrator, and enjoys baking and cooking.
